If you read ChannelPro Network, keep an eye out for a bright red Firebox in the May print issue. The channel magazine recently reviewed the Firebox T35-W, our tabletop UTM appliance for mid-sized SMBs, and had many good things to say about the appliance’s interface and features. The reviewer was especially pleased with how easy it was to set up the T35-W and how simple the browser-based admin console interface was. They also complimented the large amount of features included in the cost-effective appliance. Part of the review reads, “Though small in size, the T35-W has a bigger feature list than you might expect. It includes a PoE Ethernet port for powering a Wi-Fi access point, and its speed was far faster than our SMB lab could properly test.”
The review also examined the Untangle u50x, a small office firewall based on open-source software. The review concludes that “The Untangle u50x is ideal for smaller networks in the 10- to 50-node range and supports them well (larger Untangle appliances are also available). For those managing dozens if not hundreds of client systems, the WatchGuard Firebox T35-W is a perfect fit, and companies can move up to the bigger T55 or T70 if need be as well. Both units reviewed here do an excellent job.”
The T35-W is intended for mid-sized businesses and distributed enterprises with about 20 users. Attackers often consider these small businesses and branch offices easy targets, which is why we’re bringing enterprise-grade security to them with our tabletop Firebox line. The T35-W offers throughput speeds of 940 Mbps with just the firewall features running and 278 Mbps with full UTM services enabled. With WatchGuard’s Total Security Suite, the T35-W offers nearly every feature present in WatchGuard’s higher-end UTM appliances, including all security capabilities such as ransomware protection and data loss prevention.
