Netflix Extortion – Daily Security Byte

May 3, 2017 By Corey Nachreiner

Last Sunday, a hacker (or hacking group) called thedarkoverlork leaked 10 episodes of the unreleased season of Netflix’s Orange is the New Black. As it turns out, this attacker seems to have breached the network of a least one of Netflix’s production partners, and stolen a lot of unreleased shows and movies. Thedarkoverload tried to extort these companies, and Netflix, threatening to release the stolen content. Apparently, they got sick of waiting and have released some of the content to apply more pressure. Watch today’s video to learn more about this incident, and why your supply chain plays an important part in your security.
