Catch Up on WatchGuard's Daily Security Bytes

February 3, 2015 By Corey Nachreiner

As I mentioned earlier, at the beginning of the year I launched a new video series called WatchGuard’s Daily Security Byte. This video—which I’ll post here every week day—shares interesting information security (infosec) news or practical security tips everyday. I plan on keeping the videos around one minute long (no longer than two minutes) so that you can get the information you need quickly and move on to other tasks. Let me know what you think of the new series and format, and what news or information would be most useful to you.

I actually launched this series over three weeks ago, so there’s already three weeks of videos that you may have missed with the blog down. I’ll post a summary of these videos below, in case you want to catch up. If you’d like to be informed whenever I post new video content, whether I’ve blogged about it or not, you should subscribe to my YouTube page. Also, check out WatchGuard’s Facebook page as well, as we’ll post the daily videos, and more, there too.

In any case, here are the Daily Bytes you’ve missed the last few weeks:

Jan. 12 – 16:

  • CENTCOM Hack – Daily Security Byte EP.1
  • Tuesday Patch Bonanza – Daily Security Byte EP.2
  • Obama on CyberSecurity – Daily Security Byte EP.3
  • Charlie Hebdo Cyber Attacks – Daily Security Byte EP.4
  • Google vs. Microsoft – Daily Security Byte EP.5

Jan. 19 – 23:

  • NSA Hacks DPRK – Daily Security Byte EP.6
  • Oracle CPU Jan. 2015 – Daily Security Byte EP.7
  • Flash 0day – Daily Security Byte EP.8
  • Barrett Brown Case – Daily Security Byte EP.9
  • Three OS X 0day – Daily Security Byte EP.10

Jan. 26 – 30:

  • 404, Plane Not Found – Daily Security Byte EP.11
  • Ghost: Critical Linux Flaw – Daily Security Byte EP.12
  • QWERTY is REGIN – Daily Security Byte EP.13
  • Adult Site Spreads Malware – Daily Security Byte EP.14
  • F0xy evades host firewalls – Daily Security Byte EP.15

As an aside, when I post these videos daily, I will also include a short reference section, where you can read about the topics in more detail if you want to. Let us know what you think. — Corey Nachreiner, CISSP (@SecAdept)
