DEFCON 2019: Day 1 – Security Byte

The Black Hat conference has ended, but that means the start of DEFCON! Of the two security conferences, DEFCON is much more laid back and less business. It tends to attract a wider and younger hacker community, and researchers figuratively let their hair down, sometimes releasing more exploit code and proof-of-concepts. Besides that, DEFCON includes many hacking competitions and capture the flag (CTF) challenges, as well as different “villages” where you can talk to specialists to learn new skills from lock picking to car hacking. In any case, my team attended the three days of the DEFCON conference, and have more presentations to share.

In the video below, Marc and I summarize the DEFCON badge talk, Elevator Phreaking, the results of sniffing the DEFCON Wi-Fi network, and a privacy speech by Senator Ron Wyden.
