Mirai Authors Plead Guilty – Daily Security Byte

Remember Mirai? That was the IoT botnet that was responsible for many huge distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks in 2016 and this year. Its authors also leaked its source code to the public, causing a flood of new malicious IoT botnets since then.

Good news! Three college-aged men, plead guilty to creating this botnet, and launching many attacks using it. Watch the latest Daily Byte to learn more about this news, and why it doesn’t mean that you can forget about IoT botnets next year.

Show note: This will be the last Daily Security Byte for the year, since I am on a holiday break. I look forward to seeing you again in 2018.
