Leaked NSA Report on Russian Hacking – Daily Security Byte

The Daily Security Byte is back after a long hiatus. I haven’t been able to do videos for a few weeks due to business travel, but I’m back with an interesting update to alleged Russian election hacking.

On Monday, The Intercept released a story based on a leaked Top Secret NSA report claiming that the Russian Intelligence Agency (GRU) carried out various targeted attacks days before the 2016 U.S. presidential election. According to the report, the attacks consisted of spear-phishing attacks meant to either steal credentials from a voting software vendor, or install malware on election officials’ computers. The report doesn’t contain any raw evidence to support these allegations, nor does it share any conclusions on these attacks’ success. However, it does unequivocally attribute Russian intelligence for the attacks. Watch today’s video to learn more about this new development, and what the average citizen might learn from the incident.
